Creator’s Companion specializes in working with independent authors who want to self-publish. The genres we work with mostly fall under the speculative fiction umbrella: sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. However, do you have a riveting historical fiction, an extra spicy romance, or a fan fiction itching to be a best seller? Bring it on! We’ve got you. Before starting work on a new project, so we can accurately assess the project’s needs and an accurate turnaround time, we will request a 10-page* writing sample, and in return, we will provide a free 10-page editing sample**.

1) The Total Package
This is the whole kit and caboodle! When you choose the Total Package Edit, you will get 1 round of developmental editing, up to 2 rounds of copyediting, and a final proofread* before going to publication. We will be with you 100% of the way. As a bonus for this package, we will also include our Beta Reading service at no additional charge.

2) Developmental Editing
Developmental editing is the editing of your book from a reader’s point of view. We read the entire manuscript cover-to-cover once as a reader and then go back with an editor’s eye for a deep dive to discuss the overall plot, theme, and structure. You’ll get notes and suggestions throughout your manuscript, along with an extensive editorial letter, to make it the most engaging, pleasurable reading experience possible.

3) Copyediting
Here at Creators Companion, we combine what are traditionally considered line and copyediting. For this level of editing, we’ll discuss your writing on a sentence and paragraph level. We’ll look for clarity, consistency, wordiness, passive vs. active voice, and more along with the basics of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. You will receive an extensive style sheet of your copyedited manuscript.

4) Proofreading
This is it, the last chance to make sure all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. This is the last step before going to publication, so we only offer this service on projects that have already been, at least, copyedited.
